The best time to eat tomatoes is at breakfast or lunch. A grilled tomato is delicious on a slice of toast. It’s a brilliant first meal because the acids contained within tomatoes facilitate the digestive process and help regulate your stomach functions. Plus, since they are filling they will keep you going all morning. For a lunchtime fix, you can add sliced tomatoes to sandwiches or salads. Try to avoid eating tomatoes too late at night as they do contain an acid called oxalic acid. This acid can have a negative effect on the water and salt combination in your stomach and affect your metabolism, leading to swelling, and stomach pains before you go to bed.
