Processed foods are packed with unnatural extras, such as flavorings, colorings, preservatives, and sulfites. They are ALL bad for your health, with studies suggesting that they can cause asthma, ADHD, obesity, and dermatitis. And the worst part about processed foods is that they can appear to be completely natural and organic thanks to clever marketing and packaging. Here are a few examples:
- Bread
- Milk
- Bacon
- Cereals
- Canned vegetables
We will be giving you some daily tips that should help you avoid all processed foods, and we will also be giving you some healthy alternatives, where applicable.
Today’s Tip
Look for food with the word “organic” on the label
Why it matters?
We all know that organic food tends to taste better than its inorganic counterpart, but what some of you might not be aware of is that organic food is free from artificial colorings or preservatives. Furthermore, it ensures that the food has not come into contact with any genetically modified ingredients or pesticides (there are some exceptions, such as honey, since nobody can fully control where a bee gets its pollen from).
Today’s Processed-food Alternative
Fruit instead of fruit juice, the latter is usually laden with colorings and preservatives as well as sugar.
