A house in Sweden was made by the people, for the people. But it wasn’t a tool like Kickstarter or other crowdfunding means that did it. Rather, it was a designer competing with Ikea for being the biggest in the country named Big Data.

The popularity of the House of Clicks

The home, officially known as housing portal Hemnet but more officially referred to as the House of Clicks, made waves. Big Data collected information from over 200 million clicks from over 20% of Sweden’s population for specs on its website in order to decide on the house they’d build completely democratically. It is going to start construction around the spring of 2016.

The point of the experiment

Why did they do something so ambitious? Plain old curiosity. Stefan Tall, the spokesperson for Hemnet, explained that the company was inspired by sources such as Netflix’s user recommendations.
With such great images already featured, we are all very excited to see the finished product. Keep an eye on Big Data’s website to stay updated.
