People think that those who do not listen to their criticism or opinions are dumb, ignorant or callous. But most times it goes beyond just simply being selfish. It means that you want to assert your authority and responsibility for what choices you need to take. This makes you bolder and defiant to reaching goals and attaining success. Thus such people can understand certain things.
“Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.” – Dr. Seuss
1. You know what choices matter
Not all things that are said to you have to count. You can be very selective and determine what choices you are supposed to take. You do not need anyone’s validation except yourself. Thus you can make progress and be kind to yourself on the decisions you have to take.
2. You are not liked by everybody
Because you are selective and do not have to follow everyone’s advice you are scorned by certain persons. You understand this and you are comfortable with the idea.
3. You are happy
Only you can understand the excitement you feel from taking your chances and doing what pleases. It is not as if you are stubborn or obstinate, it is just that you know that what applies to other people may not apply to you. Thus you feel unique, special and different. And with this come some self-esteem and an accomplishment that you are one with your inner self.
4. You understand that not everything is under your control
No matter how thoughtful you are and how much you try to make others reason along a smarter line, you just can’t force or bend them to understand your ideals. You understand your limitations that every other person will always have their own perspective of things and there is nothing you can do about that.
5. You have positive energy
You can store your energy and channel it to more appropriate or worthy pursuits rather than concerning yourself with what others are thinking. You do know that spending time to think or talk about X and Y opinions on a subject will only be futile.
6. You can define your own courage
It takes courage and a strong will to stand in defiance to what others say or think about you. You know what courage means and how disciplined you have become in saying no to things that may not just be best for you.
7. You determine your fate
You become a master of your destiny and do not consume yourself in a life of regrets. You are not asking yourself, “what if I have done this?” Avoiding the doubts, naysayers and what ifs make you live a life of purpose and offers you a rounder knowledge about yourself.
8. You fool around a little but you still prove a point
Not listening to others’ opinion doesn’t make you perfect. Yes you will make mistakes and fool around in trying to do what pleases you, but at the end of the day you can prove a point to yourself and to every other person who has thought otherwise.
9. You understand how to be expressive
People who do not care about what others say are bold and clear. You understand how to express yourself. Because at the end of the day your decisions could make or mar you, you can be clear about what you want. You are expressive and you either speak out or show your authenticity.
10. You know what it means to be complete
When you are not needy, it doesn’t mean you cannot ask for help when you need it, rather it means that you do not suffer a hole within you to hide something. Rather, you show fullness and completeness that you have it all figured out.
