These Are the Filthiest Places in Your House and They Will Totally Surprise You (21 pics)

Did you know that when you flush your toilet you launch bacteria into the air. Now ask yourself “where do I keep my toothbrush?”
Rinse your brush after every use and throw it away every 3 months.
Bath mats are constantly wet and are usually stored in a bathroom, dark and dirty. That spells a combination of germ disasters waiting to happen. Don’t forget to launder your bathmats.

Your TV remote (or 7) can collect a lot of germs off of those hands of yours. Give them a good once over with a disinfectant.

You wash your head (hopefully) which is exactly why you should wash the place you rest that head at night. Hair, sweat, drool, it all collects into those pillows of yours.

Your sheets are collecting all of that pillow case overflow. Wash them sheets!

Same concept as your pillow. Rubbing something over and over on your face doesn’t keep an object clean. Replace makeup brushes every 3 months.

Your gym clothes are like one big pocket of sweat and dirt. When you stuff them into your gym bag. Wash that bad boy out.

You know those things that you use to constantly walk through everything out in the world? Turns out they have a little bit of dirt on them.

Sorry to say, but using your headphones for as little as one hour is long enough to build up a significant amount of bacteria. Soap and water.

Any place that comes in contact with warm but not boiling water is going to be bacterias favorite spot. You should run vinegar through your coffee maker of choice about once per month.

Reusable water bottles (not to be confused with disposable water bottles) are hot spots for E. coli and other bacterias. They should be thoroughly washed with bleach solution every week.

Sponges are full of holes and crevices that food gets nice a stuck in. It’s recommended that you soak your sponges in bleach once per week.

Every knob, door handle and switch in your kitchen is going to be covered in the same food prep crap you come in contact with. Wipe down your kitchen with some disinfectant.

You may think that since you’re clean when you get out of the shower that your towels are clean too, but in fact you are scrubbing dead skin cells all over them. Wash them in the laundry at a high temperature.

Laundry baskets and bags share space with your dirty laundry. Not great. Wipe down your baskets with disinfectant and toss your bags into the wash with your clothes.

Your keys are covered in bacteria from years of hand to hand contact. Scrub them down with some soap.

Wood or plastic, all cutting boards are plagued with loads of bacteria. Clean glass and plastic ones with boiling water or bleach. Wooden ones can be microwaved to kill bacteria.

If you swapped those glasses for some contact lenses you may be interested to know that 80% of contact lenses in use these days are contaminated. Studies have shown that the brand of cleaning solution you choose has no impact either. Lenses need to be cleaned outside of the solution once per month and the cases need to be replaced frequently.

Cell phones, especially now with touch screens, are some of the dirtiest things you come in contact with. Studies have shown that one out of every six phones has fecal matter on it.

Purses are the home of half of the items on this list. If a bunch of dirty things are commingling there is going to be some grime buildup.
