How Technology is Making People’s Christmas Wishes Come True

1

Every Christmas, billions of people wish for things they’ve always wanted. Some are within reach, such as an iPad mini or the new Madden, while others are a bit more difficult to obtain, such as restored health or an expensive family vacation.

Christmas has passed, but that doesn’t mean that Santa doesn’t hear every one of those wishes. Though many of the things you’ve wished for in the past may seem unattainable, modern technology is constantly developing and can grant wishes you never thought possible. Here are several examples of just how that’s happened.

Good Morning Snore Solutions’ Brilliant Snoring Solution

How many wives have wished on an evening star that their husbands wouldn’t snore, just for one night? Medical professionals have studied the causes of snoring and discovered treatments that can help, including expensive surgeries and medications. These solutions are wonderful for many, but for others, they only present another roadblock. Some are resistant to treatments or simply can’t afford the procedures.

With Good Morning Snore Solutions’ anti-snoring mouthpiece, people can enjoy a good night’s sleep, without having to take medications or pay for costly procedures. The clear, plastic mouthpiece is clinically proven to be a practical and comfortable treatment for snoring and sleep apnea. It works by using suction to gently pull the tongue away from the throat, improving air passage and contributing to a comfortable night’s sleep.

WestJet’s Christmas Surprise

1

Everyone has one thing they want for Christmas that they’re not sure how to get. This past Christmas, WestJet released a video (with more than 40 million views), which showed how, thanks to technology, miracles can happen.

A team of WestJet employees set up a virtual Santa for customers flying to Calgary. The Santa on camera addressed each WestJet passenger by name, carrying on conversations about Christmas traditions and asking what each customer wanted for Christmas. Answers ranged from a big-screen TV to a flight home for Christmas.

The passengers boarded the plane with a cheerful spirit in the air, not knowing the biggest surprise was yet to come. While the customers enjoyed their flight, a WestJet team prepared a surprise for each passenger worth viewing. If you don’t have time to watch the full video, start it at 3:08, where the magic begins.

Google Hangouts and Other Group Communication Apps

Many parents wish the whole family could be together for Christmas. Though it may not be possible to physically bring families together each year, they can connect thanks to a local Internet connection and a number of free apps that provide a virtual hangout spot.

Group calling has been around for years, but Google Hangouts and Skype have recently made improvements. The video quality and connection for these platforms are good, and you’ll also receive SMS support. Just make sure everyone has a smartphone or tablet with Internet access, and it’s home for the holidays for your family.

Robo-Doctor: At-Home Cancer Treatment

1

If we could see any Christmas wish come true, it would involve making cancer treatments more comfortable. Though many obstacles have made this seem impossible, a recent development in robotic doctors has made this a reality. Robo-Doctors make diagnoses and simple medical procedures possible through telecommunication. A doctor situated in an office across the country can visit patients, make diagnoses, offer advice, and direct medical administration.

This groundbreaking technology has made it possible to facilitate treatment for cancer patients from their own homes. Though some procedures will still need to be taken care of at the hospital, with an on-call nurse and the proper equipment, patients can receive treatments, medications, check-ups, and advice from the best medical professionals in the country, without leaving the house. Cancer patients can finally receive the help they need at their convenience; a feat hundreds of cancer patients have wished for in the past.

Whether your wish is as small as a good night’s sleep or as large as receiving medical treatment from the comfort of your home, wishes are coming true every day; thanks to technology.
