10 Best Outdoor Activities For Families

10 Best Outdoor Activities For Families

This fall, it’s so much fun to spend your family time outdoors in the breezy weather. As parents, nothing is more enjoyable than seeing your children laugh and play with you. These moments from outdoor activities will be the ones that you will always cherish no matter how old you get.

Don’t let fall pass without having some quality time with your family. Here are some of the best outdoor activities that you can do this season.

1. Hide and Seek

Every child loves hide and seek, but if you take the game to outdoor activities, it adds a whole new level of fun. Go to the park and play hide and seek there. There are so many places to hide which will widen your kids’ imagination. Just make sure you have an adult companion to look over the kids in case you’re the one who’s seeking.

2. Playhouse

You don’t need to have an actual playhouse to play house. If you have a tree house, garden shed, or even a makeshift tent, you can enjoy this game outdoors. A cooking playset and other toys that replicate household items would be your best equipment to make playing house fun. What’s great about doing this outdoors is you can pretend to grill, ride a car or bike, and use plants as your cooking ingredients.

3. Playing with Leaves

Fall is a great time to play outdoors because the falling leaves can be piled up and made into a cushion. Rake up all the fallen leaves from your tree or, if you don’t have a tree, get some from the park and take them home. Better yet, why not just play at the park? The space is much bigger and you can do other activities afterwards.

4. Trampoline Jumping

Jumping on trampolines is a load of fun! Your kids will surely love bouncing and tumbling on the huge elastic circle. Prepare for all the giggles and squeals of joy when you flip over and do funny exhibitions. However, make sure you only use the best trampolines to avoid accidents and injuries. High quality trampolines are designed to last and can be used for years.

5. Tag

Tag is one of the oldest games in the book but it never ceases to keep kids happy. When playing tag, you need a lot of running space. Also, be careful when running because your kids might fall. Incorporate imaginary play using toy swords or water guns. You can even wear costumes and make it even more interesting.

6. Camping

Who said you need to go out in the wild to camp? Even in your backyard, you can enjoy camping by setting up a tent and sleeping bags. You can do a bonfire if your backyard permits it, but be careful when lighting up a fire. You can sing songs and count the stars with your kids all night. You can also pretend play, as though you’re rangers in a forest or wildlife explorers. Bring your kids’ stuffed animals so you can add a touch of wildlife in your camping activities.

7. Nature Exploration

Nature is a wonderful thing that must be taught to children in their young age. Let them explore the grass, trees, flowers, worms, bugs, soil, and all kinds of things you can find outdoors. You can even hide a surprise toy, kind of like an Easter egg, to make your kids more curious and observant. There’s also a lot of places where nature is featured, like at the park, at the beach, and near the mountain. National parks are perfect spots for exploration, like the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone National Park.

8. Hopscotch

Adults can enjoy hopscotch too! All you need is a drawing on the pavement and a rock to throw. Hopscotch is fun and it promotes physical activity. It’s also fun to do with many kids, so don’t hesitate to invite your kids’ friends! You can make the play interesting by using different colors on the hopscotch boxes and singing songs while it’s your turn.

9. Bubbles

Blowing bubbles is always fun, especially if there’s a lot of space to run around and catch those flying balls! You can also make giant bubbles using a DIY guide like this one. Even the youngest kids will enjoy popping the bubbles that float around in the air. Just make sure your solution isn’t toxic or painful to the eyes to avoid injuries.

10. Kite Flying

Flying a kite is the ultimate of these outdoor activities for the whole family, and fall is the perfect time to do it because of the breeze. You can turn kite-making into a creative indoor activity. Make artistic designs like animals, flowers, and various objects with different colors.
Having fun with your family is the best way to spend your time off work. But always be careful so that no one will get hurt when you play outdoors.
