As much as we pretend that we go through our lives alone, if one stops to think about all our life’s experiences and all the people we’ve met, it becomes clear that our lives impact, and are impacted, by each and every person. Our memories are like a child’s balloon. They are a simple thing which bring us such joy.
In this short, yet poignant video, one man’s life is shown, from childhood to old age, as is all of the memories (balloons) he collects throughout his life.
The video starts simply, with a boy on a bench being handed a balloon by an unknown stranger. He soon meets some friends, and the impact their lives have on him are shown by the boy carrying their balloons until he meets the love of his life, who gives him the biggest balloon of all.
We’ve all been given this balloon by the one person we can never forget, the person whose life has had the greatest impact on our own. We carry this balloon, often using it as a reminder of the type of person we love and want to be loved by.
When we finally meet that someone, our lives truly begin. Two lives become one, and soon our pair of balloons becomes an enormous bunch. All of our joyful memories, all of the experiences of our lives, we carry with us as a reminder that our lives have been filled with much more joy than pain.
Unfortunately, being human, we have to face the day when our lives will end and all of the memories we’ve created over the years begin to fade, and become lost to time.
So, how do we live forever?
By passing on our favorite balloon, and all the love that filled it, to our children and grandchildren.
Just like when we were handed someone else’s balloon during our childhood.
