The Perks Of Working From Home And Whether It’s For You

Working-From-Home-Infographic 1

I could very well be writing this in my underwear. I’m not, but I definitely could be. That should be incentive enough for you to want to work from home.

All kidding aside, telecommuting has proven to be incredibly beneficial for both the employee and employer. Employees enjoy perks such as not having to spend time commuting, being able to set their own hours, and being able to complete work-related projects where they’re most comfortable.

Working off-site also allows employees to complete tasks without being distracted by extraneous entities such as a broken air conditioner or a colleague who won’t stop talking about So You Think You Can Dance. When I sit down to write an article, the only thing that pulls my attention away from the screen is my lovable cat. Where is she right now, anyway?

Ah, sorry. I’m back!

Many apps and programs have made collaborating with colleagues through the Internet incredibly easy. Employers can create various chat rooms in Slack that focus on different departments, projects, or tasks, ensuring that anyone who needs to be in the know gets the memo immediately.

Even when workers are sick, they’ll still at least be able to check in throughout the day if there are pressing issues that need immediate attention. Of course, this means technology can be a boon and a curse, depending on which side you’re looking at it from.

Many companies have jumped on the telecommute bandwagon, such as IBM, Apple, and Amazon. Wouldn’t it be nice to work for a major company like those while sitting poolside with your shades on?
