A Glass Of Red Wine = An Hour At Gym, According To Researchers
Too busy to lace up your sneakers and head for a spin class? Relax…you might get the same benefit from popping open a cabernet, pouring yourself a glass, and sitting back and enjoy the same benefits as a workout.
Sounds too fabulous to be true, right? But crazy as it sounds, researchers at the University of Alberta in Canada found that reservatrol, a key ingredient in red wine, when tested in a lab, improved subjects’ physical performance, muscle strength and heart function as much as a session at the gym. “We were excited when we saw that resveratrol showed results similar to what you would see from extensive endurance exercise training,” said researcher Jason Dyck in an article in Science News. “We immediately saw the potential for this and thought that we identified ‘improved exercise performance in a pill.’ “

Couples Stare At Each Other For 4 Minutes For The First Time
Six couples, all at different stages in the their relationship, took part in this love experiment. Could they handle four minutes of gazing into one another’s eyes without the need to fidget, talk or look away? Many years ago psychologist Arthur Aron asked himself if it was possible to make two strangers fall in love. One of the techniques he used was having the strangers stare at one another for four minutes. He thought he could make any two people fall in love under the right circumstances. What happens if we take a breath and slow down with one another for four minutes? Sure, we look at our partner all the time, but do we really see them?
Maybe this will inspire you to pause and dedicate a few minutes with your loved one for some bond strengthening.
“I should have peed first.”
“When I look at you really closely like this, I realize how much I need you.”
“I feel nervous. Do you feel nervous? I don’t know what we’re doing.”
She: “I wondered what you were thinking.”
He: “How wonderful it was to just sit here and look at my wife for a change.”
